Sri Lanka Golf Tour
Sri Lanka is quickly becoming a popular destination for the international golfing community. The country has both colonial and modern-style golf courses distributed around the country. Golf in Sri Lanka is a terrific way to spend your time, whether you are a novice or an expert golfer. These golf courses are set in some of the most gorgeous tropical scenery imaginable. Golfing can also be combined with other fantastic activities such as wildlife safaris, tea tours, wellness retreats, beach vacations, and fantastic culinary experiences, among many more.
The Royal Colombo Golf Club (capital; at sea level), Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (central hill country; 2070 metres), Victoria Golf & Country Resort (central hill country; 600 metres), Shangrilla Hambantota (south coast; at sea level), and Eagles Golf Links (east coast; at sea level) are the five 18-hole golf courses in Sri Lanka.
There are also many nine-hole golf courses on the island, including Sandy Bay Golf Links in Trincomalee, Koggal Golf Club, and Diyatalawa Army Golf Club. All golf courses demand a fee of between 250 and 500 kronor, plus the cost of a caddy and a ball finder. In September 2019, the World Amateur Golf Tournament will be held in Sri Lanka.
Royal Colombo Golf Club
The Royal Colombo Golf Club was created in 1880 and is Sri Lanka’s oldest golf club. The golf facility is located in Colombo’s capital and contains an 18-hole course with distinct spaces for training your swing. The rich history of the club can be felt throughout, and a cocktail at the Guvnors Bar in the Club House is an absolute must. This is without a doubt one of Sri Lanka’s most atmospheric golf courses.
Nuwara Eliya Golf Club
The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, which was founded in 1889, provides a spectacular flavour of Sri Lanka’s colonial past. The club has an 18-hole par-71 course and welcomes both beginners and seasoned golfers. There is a pro shop on the club grounds where clubs, shoes, and balls can be leased.
Eagle’s Golf Links- Trincomalee
Eagle’s Golf Links is located on the east coast (Trincomalee) of Sri Lanka. The 18-hole, par-72 course is a bit difficult and may be better suited to experienced golfers than absolute novices. The scenic course provides views of Clappenberg Bay and Malay Cove. Eagle’s Golf Links works for a good cause by assisting retired service members in reintegrating into civilian life, and they also donate a portion of their profits to Sri Lanka Air Force troops and their families.
Shangri La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa
The Shangri-La has Sri Lanka’s first and only resort golf course. The 18-hole course is divided into three picturesque zones with views of nearby lakes and the Indian Ocean. Rodney Wright created the par-70 course using environmentally sustainable methods. After a round of golf, relax at the resort’s magnificent spa, which is rated as one of the best in Sri Lanka.
Victoria Golf & Country Resort
Victoria Golf & Country Resort’s par-73 course is one of the most picturesque in Sri Lanka. The award-winning Donald Steele & Co. designed the 18-hole championship course, which offers beautiful views of Sri Lanka’s pure nature away from the bustling throng.
